Kenya High student goes missing as schools reopen

Parents of a 13-year-old student at Kenya High School are in agony after their daughter went missing three days ago.
Nelly Mwende Kimotho, who hails from Kigaa Village in Runyenjes Constituency, Embu County, went missing on Saturday, August 25 at 6pm after going to the supermarket to buy a geometrical set.
The Form One student had earlier Saturday – at 4pm – gone for shopping with her two siblings at Runyenjes Town and returned home, before leaving for the supermarket again, saying she had forgotten to purchase a geometrical set.
This time round, she went for shopping unaccompanied.
According to Mwende’s uncle, Francis Ndwiga Kimotho, who is the family spokesperson, the missing girl had gone for shopping in preparation of resuming school after the August break.
Mwende, however, did not return home.
Her family has contacted her relatives and friends, but none knows Mwende’s whereabouts.
Her disappearance from home was reported at the Runyenjes Police Station by her family.
Mr Kimotho says Mwende’s family is distressed following the disappearance of their “bright”, “disciplined” and “hard-working” daughter.
Mr Kimotho says Mwende hadn’t quarreled with her parents or siblings ahead of her disappearance from home.
The teenager was wearing a black jacket, ‘faded’ pair of jeans trousers and braided hair on the day she went missing.
Mr Kimotho has urged anyone with information about Mwende’s whereabouts to reach her family on phone number 0722645688, or report to the nearest police station
